Facilities

An open green environment and play area ensures that kids are not cooped up inside the classroom and can explore the surroundings – leading to better physical and mental health. Play area is constantly supervised when in use to ensure safety of kids.

Our in-house pool is always a big hit with kids, especially in summers. Pool sessions are always supervised by experienced staff. Play-time in the pool is also useful for some kids to overcome their fear of water.

Safety and security of kids is our foremost priority, and the school campus is well-equipped with cameras, security staff and fire equipment to monitor and manage all areas. Hygiene and cleanliness is also of paramount importance – kids are taught hand-washing and waste management from Day 1.

Age – appropriate educational tools are available for all classes, as visualisation is the best form of learning. The campus also inculcates moral values by incorporating timeless stories in the form of wall paintings in multiple areas. We also allow limited students per class to ensure quality education for each child.
Activities

At First Steps, numerous events such as graduation ceremonies, grandparents day, annual day, etc are celebrated, where kids showcase their talent. The primary goal is exposure to the stage and performing in front of an audience, while having loads of fun. It does not matter HOW a child performs in these events, all that matters is taking a step and building confidence. Families are also encouraged to actively participate to give the kids an extra boost of energy.

The school curriculum incorporates a variety of activities focused on improving eye-hand coordination, motor skills as well as art and craft.

Festivals are celebrated in the school with much enthusiasm by the kids and staff – making the event a fun-filled one also makes it easier to explain the significance of the festival in simplistic terms. Kids are encouraged to respect all cultures, including their own. They play a major role in decorating the school premises during all these festivities, by helping teachers create various crafts.

We believe that kids should be taught from an early age to connect with nature, and more importantly, learn the importance of nurturing nature. There are regular sessions where kids are taught to turn the soil, plant seeds, saplings, water them regularly and watch their plants grow. Every child is given the responsibility of taking care of one plant from scratch. Interaction with soil is an important sensory engagement and develops motor skills, eyesight as well as mental health. Plus, a variety of toys and safe garden tools for kids results in hours of fun under the sun!

An important activity for students is practical exposure to real-world environments, depending on their age. We arrange various educational trips, such as to supermarkets, post-offices, banks, small clinics, police station, etc to help them understand how these environments function at a very basic level. This also teaches discipline and good behaviour in public spaces.
Several outings and excursions are also arranged with complete supervision so that kids, as well as staff, can have time off from the regular school activities.

Once kids start schooling, they are also taught about several professions in the world. However reading about these can get boring for small kids, which is why play-acting these professions, while learning about them practically is a much better way to inculcate a sense of excitement and probable future goals. Kids get to choose what they want to be and enact a small skit while speaking a few lines about their chosen profession.
