Founded in the year 2001, First Steps was one of the earliest pre-schools established in this area. We have come a long way in imparting some of the finest and proven teaching methodologies to the tiny tots. At First Steps, we combine integrated Playway and Montessori methods to teach and improve the concentration of kids, using hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, etc.
Being one of the earliest schools to come up in the area, First Steps has developed a reputation over the years in handling children of varied temperaments with care, compassion and ease, while improving their communication skills and engaging cooperation. First Steps also has a culture of encouraging outdoor practical learning and activities, in its spacious green environment. The facility also has a splash pool – your kid wouldn’t want to come home once pool time begins! It is also important for us to be on par with other schools when it comes to academics. We are proud of the fact that since more than two decades, kids of First Steps have been successfully clearing all primary school entrance tests with very good scores.
Pick a Class
Child has to complete 2 years by May. Playgroup is essentially aimed at getting children to adjust to the school environment. Here the child would be free to play, run about and have fun to his/her heart’s content. The child would also slowly start mingling and interacting with other kids. Basic hand hygiene, toilet training is taught, and also to listen to small instructions from the teacher, such as “sit”, “stand”, “getting objects” etc. Gradual introduction to colours, rhymes, numbers, building blocks, scribbling etc is done.
Child has to complete 3 years by May. In the Nursery group, the child is introduced to phonic sounds, numbers 1-20, counting, matching, orals, learning through Art & Craft. Children are also taught to speak small sentences in English, and taught basic G.K. They are encouraged to participate in small activities like watering plants, exhibit good habits and manners. Kids here start applying themselves by interlinking and differentiating between multiple objects, patterns etc.
Child has to complete 4 years by May. Once the child reaches the L.K.G group, actual academic learning begins – complete alphabet (Az-Zz), numbers up to 50/100, Hindi are taught. Increased attention is given to grasping concepts of environmental sciences, GK etc. However the primary focus is confidence-building via activities like public-speaking, story telling, encouraging group conversations etc. Kids learn to improve their eye-hand coordination, identification and differentiation of objects, and also focused outdoor sports.
Child has to complete 5 years by May. U.K.G group is focused on preparing the child to move on to different primary schools. Training is provided to ensure parity with primary school syllabus. Fundamental concepts of mathematics, languages, verbal and written skills, etc. are honed. Three-four letter words, numbers 1-200, addition and simple subtraction, greater/lesser than, Hindi are taught. Robust group and solo activities for overall personality development are carried out. Kids who pass out of First Steps are known to have a high success rate in clearing all primary school entrance exams.
